Himalaya Airlines has started to operate its flights from Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA). The airline successfully landed its first international commercial flight from GBIA to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 3rd November 2022.
The scheduled flight took off from Gautam Buddha International Airport on November 3, 2022, Thursday at 14:48 hours, carrying 135 passengers onboard. Mr. Suresh Adhikari, Secretary, of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, graced the flight inaugural event as the chief guest, along with other special guests, which also included Mr. Pradeep Adhikari, Director General (DG) of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). The airline will operate chartered flights from November 3 to November 10, 2022, as per the published schedule, on a daily basis, with plans of expanding its scheduled flights from Bhairahawa in the future.
Mr. Vijay Shrestha, Vice-President-Administration, has remarked, "We have been rigorously working towards operating our scheduled flights from Bhairahawa. We are very optimistic that Himalaya Airlines' operation from GBIA will cater towards better and stronger connectivity of various sectors of Nepal with international destinations, along with passengers' convenience. Gautam Buddha International Airport is the country's national pride and it shall definitely contribute in enhancing religious tourism. Therefore, we need to join hands together in this direction for a better future in the coming days." He also added that Himalaya Airlines will continue to provide standard inflight and ground services with Bhairahawa as the newly added sector to its network.
