PATA Annual Summit(PAS) 2017 concludes at Sri Lanka

Kathmandu, 22 May 2017: The 4 days PATA annual summit hosted by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, National Tourism Body of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Tourism and Christian Affairs with the partnership of United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which was held from May 18-21 in Jetwing Blue, Negombo, Sri Lanka with the theme “Disruption. Innovation, Transformation: The Future of Tourism.”  turned out to be a very fruitful event.

Where, representative of Nepal, Mr. Basanta Mishra (Temple Tiger), Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi (CEO of Nepal Tourism Board), Mr. Suman Pandey ( Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter), Mr. Khem Lakai(Gate College), Mr. Dinesh Bista (Soaltee Group), Mr. Gopi Bhattarai (Paradise Cafe & Bar-Pokhara), Mr. Naresh Bhattarai (Mt. Kailash Resort), along with two students representing PATA Nepal Student Chapter, Ms. Perishma Sharma and Ms. Aastha Shrestha took part in the event.

In the program, Mr. Suman Pandey talked about the upcoming B2B Mart, the Himalayan Travel Mart, and the role of Nepal Chapter, as it is going to be a major step towards tourism recovery. The event is taking place from June 1st-4th   of June, with the main theme being establishing “Nepal as the Gateway to the Himalayan Region”. He further stressed HTM being an integrated package to serve PATA philosophies and promote Nepal through events as per guidelines of post-quake recovery action plan built by PATA. Ms. Perishma Sharma, PATA Student Representative, also focused the initiations on student chapters in Nepal and how they are moving along with increasing student’s capacities and participation in various hospitality events organized by PATA Nepal.

Ms. Sara Mathews has been selected as the new chairman of PATA International. She has been working as a Trip Advisor and under her leadership, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is lunching campaign for the promotion of “Tourism in Nepal”.
