Mr. Suresh Singh Budal, Executive Manager of PNC informed that this Youth Talent Quest campaign has five competitions on the subjects of Public Speaking, Content Writing, Tourism Product Development, Tech for Tourism and Promo Video, aiming to provide a platform for young tourism students to showcase their talent, unveil their potential, and be rewarded.
PATA Nepal Chapter (PNC) organized the Grand Finale of Public Speaking Competition, today at Global Academy of Tourism & Hospitality Education (GATE) College, Mandikhatar, Kathmandu. This was a part of PATA Nepal Youth Talent Quest, 2017, a campaign in search of talented Young Tourism Professionals.
The event kicked off by a welcome speech from Mr. Suman Pandey, Chairman, PATA Nepal Chapter where 15 students took part as contestants from 7 different PATA Nepal Chapter Member colleges namely GATE, PYC, IST, NCTTM, KATH, NATHM and MID-VALLEY Int’l.
During the welcome remarks, Mr. Pandey highlighted upon the mission of PATA Nepal towards building young tourism professionals through various events and activities with it’s PATA Nepal Student Chapter. He added how PATA’s philosophies have always invested in building human capital and how through such events PATA Nepal is looking forward to identifying talents to become successful leaders of tomorrow.
The competition was judged by a panel of experts including Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal- Ex-Secretary of Ministry of Culture Tourism & Civil Aviation, Mr. Ujjwal Satyal- Former Principal of Nepal Academy of Tourism & Hotel Management and Mr. Prabhat Rimal- CEO of Vogue Ad. & Event Management P. Ltd.
Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal appreciated the initiative taken by PATA Nepal and emphasized on the importance of such events to encourage students and develop constructive ideas based on tourism. He added that there is a tremendous need to promote Nepal as an independent destination, as for now it is mostly dealt on package deals with other countries.
Ms. Perishma Sharma from International School of Tourism and Hotel Management (IST) was announced as the winner who was rewarded with an opportunity to represent PATA Nepal Student Chapter in the forthcoming PATA Annual Summit 2017 to be held from May 18-21, in Srilanka and also act as student front runner for the upcoming grand event- Himalayan Travel Mart 2017.
