PATA Nepal Chapter organized the 4th PATA Youth Talent Quest (YTQ2021) in collaboration with PATA Nepal Student Chapter, and support from various organizations and sponsors including the Associate Partner-Global College International, Airlines Partners- Buddha Air and Summit Air; Hospitality Partners- KGH Group of Hotels, Community Homestay, Mount Kailash Resort and Jungle Safari Lodge; Adventure Partners- NARA, HighGround Adventures, YOYO Zipline and Zip Flyer Nepal; Hygiene Partner- iCLEAN Technology; Venue Partners (hosts): Global College International (GCI), Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education (GATE) and Mid-Valley International College (MVIC).
Youth Talent Quest (YTQ) is an annual event by PATA Nepal Chapter as a part of its engagement with Young Tourism Professionals (YTPs) that provides a platform among the students from PATA Nepal Chapter member colleges to compete and showcase their multifaceted talents, knowledge, and skills. It aims to uncover talented young tourism professionals, and further empower them with the necessary training, involvement, and exposure to PATA Nepal Chapter programs and activities, and engaging them in the best possible way to carve their successful future endeavors.
This year, PATA Nepal Chapter introduced the five key competitions under PATA YTQ 2021- Public Speaking Competition, Tourism & Hospitality Quiz, PATA Futsal Tournament, Content Writing Competition, and YTP Chefs Competition.
The YTQ 2021 kicked off with Public Speaking Competition on 16th April 2021 at GATE college, Mandikhatar, wherein Ms. Samikchha Bhattarai from GATE College was announced as the winner of the Public Speaking Competition. Similarly, Ms. Sijal Kunwar from NATHM College and Ms. Sudha Shakya from GCI were declared as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. A distinguished panel of Judges including Mr. Dipendra Purush Dhakal- Former Secretary of Ministry of Culture Tourism & Civil Aviation, Mr. Sunil Sakya- IP Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter and Mr. Bibhuti Chand Thakur- Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter made the assessment on Public Speaking skills and competencies of the Students on the three key topics of contemporary concerns at national & international Tourism- 1) Tourism and Hospitality in the New Normal and Destination Nepal; 2) Digital Transformation and Digital Promotion for Post-COVID Tourism; and 3) The implication of Health Safety and Food Hygiene for Nepal's Tourism in the New Normal.
The "Tourism & Hospitality Quiz" held on 17th Apirl 2021 at Mid-Valley Int'l College observed Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality (NATHM), Kathmandu Academy of Tourism and Hospitality (KATH), and Mid-Valley International College (MVIC) as Winner, 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up of the competition respectively.
The "Content Writing Competition" held on 18th April 2021 at GCI college, Mid-Baneshwor introduced Ms. Anushka Pradhan from NATHM as the Winner, Ms. Akriti R.L. Raut from LACM as the 1st Runner-Up, and Ms. Swostika Sapkota from NCTTM as the 2nd Runner-Up of the competition. Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Former CEO of NTB and Professional/Expert Member of PATA Nepal Chapter made the judgment of the competition.
The Futsal Tournament was also organized under YTQ 2021 on 19th April 2021, wherein Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education (Boys) and Gloabl International College (Girls) became champions defeating LACM and NCTTM respectively in the final. The tournament awarded Mr. Sushant Shrestha from GATE as the Best Player and Mr. Saurav Khadka from the same college as the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Similarly, in girls’ side, the tournament rewarded Ms. Quisang Tamang from NCTTM as the Best Player of the tournament and Ms. Pasang Yangji Sherpa from GCI as the Best Goalkeeper.
Owing to the increasing COVID cases and complying with the recent decision by the Government of Nepal, PATA Nepal Chapter has decided to postpone the "YTP Chefs Competition" of PATA YTQ2021, which was supposed to be held on April 24th, 2021 under the theme "Exploring Authentic Nepali Cuisine".
