PATA Nepal Chapter Supports “The Light of Peace” Event in Nepal

PATA Nepal Chapter supported “Light of Peace” event as an Organizing Partner which was held on 16th March 2019 at Tundikhel ground, Kathmandu Nepal. The event was organized by the Universal Dhamma Family with an aim to promote World Peace.

The event witnessed the gracious presence of Right. Honourable Vice President of Nepal- Mr. Nanda Kishor Pun, Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal, Kathmandu Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, Ambassador of Srilanka to Nepal- Her Excellency Ms. Swarna Perera, and other distinguished guests and Dharma Gurus jointly inaugurated the event by lighting the “Peace Lamp”. The event was a spectacular candle lighting ceremony featuring 5,000 lanterns attended by thousands of people, all peace lovers together to promote World Peace conducting a memorial service for the people who lost their lives in the Earthquake in 2015, and also to dedicate merit to their beloved ones who passed away. 

PATA Nepal Chapter Chairman Mr Sunil Sakya extended Welcome Remarks on behalf of the organizing committee. During his welcome remarks, Mr. Sakya said, “It is such a rare and very important occasion for Nepal to showcase our “Unity in Diversity” for global peace and prosperity to the entire world. Despite the many obstacles we face, regardless of our differences in religion, politics, caste, race and creed, that today we stand united as one nation. The world is facing many challenges, wars, and conflicts. The Light of Peace that we will ignite today will serve as a beacon of hope for Nepal and the World.  Hope for a better world, a more peaceful world!”

400 Young Tourism Professionals (YTPs) from PATA Nepal Student Chapter were engaged in the event to facilitate the volunteering and event management support.
