PATA Nepal Chapter organized a two-day Human Capacity Development (HCD) training workshop on “DESIGN THINKING- Creating Lifetime Experiences in Nepal” from December 16-17 at Park Village Resort in Kathmandu.
The training workshop was conducted by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) in Joint collaboration and support of PATA Nepal Chapter and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) which witnessed enthusiastic participation of 72 tourism professionals and stakeholders from Hotel & Resorts, Travel Agencies, Trekking Agencies, Airlines, and Adventure Operators, and Nepal Tourism Board.
The two-day workshop was led by Mr. Stu Lloyd, who celebrated 30 years in Asia at the intersection of creativity and commerce in 2018. As the Chief Hothead at Hotheads Innovation and TopDog at CATMATDOG, Stu helps Fortune 500 companies like Citibank, Accor, Adidas, Pfizer, Colgate, Intel, etc., turbocharge their creative thinking and unleash their strategic storytelling skills.
The workshop will help the participants to design with empathy from the inside-out, creating products and services which they already know customers will love because they co-created it with them. And because they love it, they will gladly do your marketing for you by word of mouth, social media, referrals, etc.
The two-day workshop was highly interactive among the participants by the group work, case studies, pair work, interview, planning, designing, analyzing the probable problems and solutions to the tourists that might be encountered in the future. With its reference, participants also designed the products for their customers by closely observing and analyzing their need.
During the training, the Facilitator, Mr. Stu Lloyd said “It is not the product that you sell these days, you need to mix up the emotions in your product for your customers. He focused on the role of observation while designing an excellent product and said," If you want to understand how a lion hunts don't go to the zoo, go to the jungle.
The participants were very enthusiastic, active and engaging during the training. They also got an outstanding opportunity to talk to the real tourists, where they interviewed the tourists and showcased their plans to attract more tourists. Furthermore, the participants acquired feedback upon their plan to allure more visitors.
The participants who completed the two-day course were awarded a PATA Human Capacity Building Certificate entitled “Design Thinking – Creating Lifetime Experience in Nepal” by Dr. Mario Hardy (CEO-PATA HQ), Mr. Stu Lloyd (Chief Hothead- Hotheads Innovation) and Mr. Sunil Sakya (Immediate Past Chairman-PATA Nepal Chapter)
